Combining different approaches to recycling organic effluents, the APIVALE project was founded on the principles of agroecology and industrial ecology, two disciplines inspired by ecological processes. APIVALE’s semi-industrial-sized machinery is located at the INRAE site in the commune of Saint-Gilles (35). With storage tanks and racks measuring between 1 and 10 m³, a 15 m³ digester, two phase separation units and a 100 m² platform used for additional experimental trials, this plant has all the facilities required to study post-processing and future agronomic practices. NASKEO has been involved in the plant’s R&D programmes since the beginning and was chosen to design and carry out the monitoring of the work of the semi-industrial trial plant.
